Road Casualties in Warwickshire

Road Casualties Warwickshire is published annually. It contains details of the scale and characteristics of the road casualty problem in Warwickshire.

It illustrates the types of casualties in the county in the previous calendar year, places them in the context of longer term trends and provides comparisons with national figures. Long term trends are measured against the 1994-98 baseline used to set national casualty reduction targets.

The new edition, covering road casualties which occurred up to 31st December 2008, is now available.

The size of Warwickshire’s problem – “The health of the people of Warwickshire is generally better than the average for England. However the rate of road injuries and deaths is higher than the England average” (NHS Health Profile 2008 Warwickshire).
Warwickshire’s performance in tackling the problem – “The Council is working well with its partners to significantly improve road safety. The rate of reduction for the number of people killed or seriously injured on roads is above average” (Audit Commission: CPA report 2008 para 79).
