About The Warwickshire Web
RSS Feeds

What is RSS?
RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by automatically retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually.

RSSMany sites display a small icon with the acronyms RSS, XML, or RDF to let you know a feed is available.

What do I need to read an RSS Feed?
Feed readers or news aggregator software allow you to grab the RSS feeds from various sites and display them for you to read and use. Some internet browsers have this already built in, such as Internet Explorer 8, Firefox, Safari, and Opera.

A variety of RSS Readers are available for different platforms. Some popular feed readers include:

  • Amphetadesk (Windows, Linux, Mac)
  • FeedReader (Windows)
  • NewsGator (Windows - integrates with Outlook).

There are also a number of web-based feed readers available. Popular ones include:
  • My Yahoo
  • Bloglines
  • Google Reader

Each RSS reader will work in a different way, but generally you will need to cut and paste the address of the RSS feed into your news reader.

If you are using an Internet browser that supports RSS feeds, just bookmark the RSS page.
