We prioritise and treat sites where there have been the highest number of personal injury crashes known as 'Cluster Sites'. We also treat 'A' and 'B' class roads that have a high number of personal injury crashes occurring per kilometre which are known as 'Hotroutes'
Our resources are limited, therefore we focus additional engineering measures on treating those roads with a high number of personal injury crashes. Relatively safe roads are given a lower priority, however these can be tackled with some of our other initiaitives such as SpeedAware.
Unfortunately, in many cases there isn't a treatable pattern of clusters for us to address as driver behaviour is a major contributory factor in almost every crash.
To best achieve our casualty reduction aim we:
- Receive Personal Injury Crash Reports from Warwickshire Police.
- Identify cluster sites and hotroutes.
- Examine why certain roads have a high number of personal injury crashes.
- Provide engineering or enforcement solutions to reduce casualties where there will be the greatest benefit for the resources invested.
We work closely with our County Highways maintenance team to reduce casualties. If any feature of the road is damaged or missing, it is a County Highways maintenance issue. |  |

Hotroutes
'A' and 'B' class roads with a recent high number of personal injury crashes occurring per kilometre. To enable a thorough analysis, the majority of roads on our Hotroute list have been split into realistic lengths. These sites are ranked, with number 1 having the highest number of personal injury crashes occurring per kilometre in the last 3 years.
