Rugby Town Centre Options
Update
- The results of the public consultation indicated that option 1 was the preferred option. A report outlining the consultation results and recommendations was taken to Rugby Area Committee in April 2009, the Committee approved the recommendation
that Option 1 is progressed. Further work, including more detailed design, will be carried out over the coming months. When a design for a detailed scheme has been developed a further public consultation will be held, this is likely to be in early/mid 2010.
Residents of Rugby are being asked to have their say in shaping the future of Rugby Town Centre
The Warwickshire Local Transport Plan (LTP) 2006 identified a need to undertake a transport study of Rugby. The main purpose of the study was to identify a preferred transport strategy for the town centre to maximise the opportunities presented by the forthcoming opening of the Rugby Western Relief Road in 2010. As a result a number of options for the town centre have been developed by a partnership comprising of Warwickshire County Council, Rugby First, Stagecoach in Warwickshire, Rugby Borough Council, and Arup.
Three options
for how the transport network of the town centre could be managed are being proposed and local residents and other local stakeholders are being offered the chance to ensure their opinion is considered.
We want to know which of the three options you prefer
,
or if you would like Rugby town centre to remain as it is. Please be aware that we are not asking you to comment on the detailed elements of any of the options at this stage - we just want to know which option you prefer in principle. You will have the opportunity to comment on scheme details at a later date. It is in all our interests to ensure that the right option is selected - your valuable local knowledge of the area may provide additional insights to help us improve or amend the options.
Please study each of the three options carefully and let us have your views and comments. You can do this by downloading the
Rugby Town Centre Options Consultation Booklet (5.1 MB)
.
You can let us have your views and comments by filling in a short questionnaire
.
To ensure that your opinions are considered please make sure your completed questionnaire reaches us no later than
20th March 2009.

It is hoped that as many people as possible will be able to spare the time to visit an exhibition, which sets out the options for the town centre. This will be on display in the Town Hall from 2nd February until 20th March 2009 and hard copies of the booklet and questionnaire will also be available. Representatives from the partnership will also be available in the Clock Towers shopping centre to answer any queries you may have on Saturday 7th February 2009 between 10am - 4pm and Wednesday 25th February between 10am - 5pm.
Copies of the exhibition boards are available by clicking on the links below:
