The Cabinet is the Council's main decision making member body, responsible for most of the key decisions taken by the authority. Other decisions are taken by the Area Committees and by Chief Officers in accordance with powers agreed by the Council. When major decisions are to be made, these are published in the Council's forward plan.
The Cabinet usually meets in public unless personal or confidential matters are being discussed.
The Cabinet consists of the Leader of the Council and up to 9 other County Councillors, appointed annually by the Council.
The Cabinet has to make decisions which are in line with the Council's overall policies and budget. If it wishes to make a decision which is outside the budget or policy framework, this must be referred to the Council as a whole to decide.
Warwickshire County Council's Cabinet is single party, comprising members of the Conservative group.
