The legal document that creates a local traffic rule which requires road users to obey certain conditions e.g. one-way systems, speed limits and weight limits.
Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) are legal documents which are created to control or restrict the movement or waiting of traffic to:
- assist traffic flows
- control or direct traffic
- improve the safety of road users
- preserve or improve the character or amenity of an area
- prevent serious damage to roads, bridges etc.
- reduce and manage congestion
Examples of TROs are:
- double/single yellow lines
- loading bays
- one-way streets
