| Zebra Crossings |
| |
Zebra crossings are characterised by a series of black and white stripes across the carriageway and flashing amber globes mounted on a pole marked with alternate black and white stripes.
Zig-zag markings are laid on both the approaches and the exits to the crossing. The zig-zags ban waiting or parking, and prohibit vehicles from overtaking the leading moving motor vehicle on the approach to the crossing or the leading vehicle that has stopped at the crossing to allow pedestrians to cross. They also warn pedestrians of the increased risk of crossing in the zig-zag area.
Zebra crossings are not suitable for roads with a speed limit greater than 30 mph. | |
