Background to Consultation
Consultation is two-way communication. It's about involving people to gain an understanding of their ideas, views, concerns and opinions. By acting on the results we can ensure the development of policy, service design and service improvement, reflects their needs and aspirations.
Consultation and Engagement Strategy
Warwickshire County Council first developed a Consultation Strategy in 2001, which was updated in 2003.
The Strategy was reviewed again in 2008 and is the first to incorporate community engagement aswell as consultation.

Key Elements
The key elements of the Consultation and Engagement Strategy are sharing opportunities for joint consultation, which reduces costs and duplication of effort, and sharing best practice.
We want to see that:
The people of Warwickshire are satisfied with the opportunities available to them to contribute to policy-making, service design and service improvement
We are sharing effort and resources effectively with each other and with our partners to gain best value from consultation activities, avoiding duplication of effort and an overload of consultation activity on certain groups in the community
Policies and services are improved to reflect the needs and aspirations of the people of Warwickshire
