Street Works Register
The role of the Street Works Register team is to manage, co-ordinate and monitor all street works activities within the boundries of Warwickshire.
The role is supported by a computerised Street Works Management System with assistance from the County Highways and its Area Teams, based in Coleshill, Nuneaton, Rugby, Warwick and Wellesbourne who monitor and report on the quality of the work carried out. All street works have to be carried out and completed in accordance with national specifications and the associated codes of practice.
What are Street Works?
- Street Works are excavations carried out by utility companies and private works that encroach onto the public maintainable highway.
- Road Works are major works carried out by the Highway Authority or its Agents to maintain and improve the road network.
- The right to excavate the highway can be extended to any private individual, developer or contractor on application to the Highway Authority for a Street Works Licence, which grants temporary authority to excavate the highway during the duration of those works.
