It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to the newly created website for the County Intercultural Curriculum Support Service.

Our Mission Statement:

ICSS provides and facilitates equal access to the National Curriculum
and prepares ALL children for life in a multicultural society”.

James Shera - Director of ICSS As a Countywide service, we provide suitably qualified and experienced Early Years staff in all phases of education, to support students in schools. Our staff are based in schools, in the community or work in partnership with mainstream staff on a peripatetic basis.

In partnership with the communities we also provide Community Language Classes in all major community languages throughout the County.

We initiated the Annual County Intercultural Festivals in 1998 where over 100 schools participate in various theme-based workshops and in ‘Finale’ evenings. ‘European Year of Languages’, ‘Global Citizenship’, are just some of our topics/themes. Please visit the festivals section to appreciate the diversity and the enjoyment that shows in all our children and communities alike. I know you will agree that these events reflect the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of our County and its communities.

The Warwickshire County Council is committed to equality of opportunity to all. As a result, the ICSS, in partnership with schools, holds an Annual Intercultural Creative & Performing Arts Festival in each area of the County. These festivals are very well supported and attended by pupils/parents/teachers

Raising academic achievements of Black African Caribbeans, Asians, Bilinguals and children with dual heritage, is our particular priority. We work in partnership with school teachers to support and enpower the learning experiences of these pupils

Over the number of years, we have seen a gradual and sustained improvement in academic achievement. For the year 2003-2004, we worked with a total of 108 schools and supported over 3,000 students. I am proud of our achievements and the contributions made by our partners in both the County schools and the Community groups.
