Litter
Litter is becoming an increasing problem partly due to the amount of 'junk food' produced and its packaging.

It is not difficult to imagine the impression given to visitors and others from a school awash with litter and other undesirable waste items.

A tidy, litter-free school gives staff and students a sense of pride and responsibility.

Some litter can be a danger to wildlife. They may become caught in plastic can holders or cut by cans.

A Litter free school gives a good impression to visitors

In terms of the law, all state-funded schools have responsibilities to make sure that their grounds are kept free of litter. Any private individual can take a school to court for having litter in its grounds. The school could be fined up to £2,500 plus a daily fine until the litter is cleared.
