The local authorities within Warwickshire acknowledge that arts organisations are vitally important partners in promoting access to the arts across the county. The County Arts Service chair the Key Clients Arts Partnership, a mechanism through which the local authorities within Warwickshire are able to offer financial support to a small number of organisations, or ‘Key Arts Clients’, which contribute to the sustainability and long term viability of the arts infrastructure.
The County Arts Service works with this small portfolio of Warwickshire based professional arts organisations to develop their practice and deliver performances, workshops and activities throughout the county.
An open, equitable and accountable process is run every three years in order to identify the arts organisations which will receive Key Arts Clients funding. This funding is an opportunity:
- for the local authorities to influence the work of some of the main arts organisations in the county.
- for the arts organisations to plan, develop and grow with some measure of support.
- for the arts sector to demonstrate the contribution they make, and to focus on articulating the arguments about why the arts sector is worth investing in and what it contributes to broader public policy goals.
- to deliver value for money as public investment helps lever in income from other sources.
