Welcome to Warwickshire County Council

County Council Departments
Community Protection

The Directorate has been created by the amalgamation of the Fire and Rescue Service, Emergency Planning Unit, Community Safety, Domestic Violence and the Drugs and Alcohol Action Team.

A diverse grouping working across a number of agendas but all with the same focus – reducing risk in Warwickshire. The aim of the Directorate will be to identify and implement risk reduction strategies, but the Directorate alone cannot undertake this. It will be necessary to build capacity through greater use of partnerships and improvements in the way we work.

To this end, we look forward to working with our colleagues in other Agencies, Authorities and the Voluntary and Community Sector. We are already involved in a variety of successful partnerships working towards a Safer Warwickshire. Our Warwickshire Car Clear partnership with Warwickshire Police and the five district and borough councils has successfully achieved a 23% reduction in the number of deliberate vehicle fires since the project started in 2003 and our Youth Development Department is going from strength to strength working with more partner organisations such as Warwickshire Youth Offending Team and Coventry and Warwickshire Connexions and offering opportunities for more young people in Warwickshire.

We look forward to further developing this work and extending our portfolio of Community Safety work as part of the second round of the Warwickshire Local Public Service Agreement, (LPSA2).
