Warwickshire's Carers Strategy & Carers Partnership
Introduction
The aim of the Carers Partnership is to raise the profile of carers issues across Warwickshire and by working in partnership with carers we hope to:
- Support the delivery and implementation and vision for carers as defined within the national and local carers’ strategy.
- To be kept informed of national and local key documents and policies that will shape the delivery of effective services for carers.
- Ensure good communication channels, to provide and disseminate information from the Carers Partnership to the wider carer community.
- To actively explore innovative ways of disseminating information and engaging with a wider population of carers residing in Warwickshire.
- To raise the profile of carers issues, by providing a platform for carers to meet to discuss, debate and form recommendations that will influence the strategic direction of services.
The Carers Partnership took a leading role in developing the Warwickshire Multi-Agency Working Together Carers Strategy 2009-2012. This Strategy focuses on the outcomes carers have identified as essential to them in order to maintain their caring role including living a life of their own.
The title of the Strategy reflects the change from being a joint initiative with Health to one which embraces all agencies who may encounter carers.
Implementation of Warwickshire’s Carers’ Strategy is divided into the following six workstreams:
Assessment, Policy and Staff Training
Employment & Education
Health & Wellbeing (including Emotional Support)
Breaks & Services
Young Carers
Information & Advice
In addition the Carers Partnership itself leads on the area of Carers Finances.
Work to implement the Strategy is carried out by multi-agency groups involving many partners including Health, Job Centre Plus, third sector organisations such as Alzheimer’s Society and Carers Support Services as well as from Warwickshire County Council.
Progress Reporting
A summary report from each active work area is submitted to the Carers Partnership to show progress on each strand of their work.
