Energy from Waste

In the modern waste management industry, the term 'incineration' is understood as the burning of waste without the recovery of energy.

Electricity
'Energy from Waste’ encompasses a number of different processes where household rubbish that is not recycled, is burned to produce energy in the form of heat and electricity.

The electricity produced as part of this process can then be sold to the National grid and the heat can be used in heating schemes.

This process takes place in purpose built industrial plants, which are designed to meet strict environmental controls and are heavily regulated to reduce pollution.

We currently send about 7% of Warwickshire's household waste to the Energy from Waste plant in Coventry, where it is used to produce heat and energy.
