Green Kerbside Collection
Collection Information
Your District or Borough Council is responsible for all your kerbside collections including green waste. Please contact them directly to find out your collection date and information on what can and cannot go into your green waste collection.
Alternatives to Kerbside Collection
Green kerbside collection has been introduced to most households in Warwickshire by the District Councils, as a way to encourage people to recycle their rubbish and increase the County's composting and recycling rate.
There are also other ways to dispose of your green waste.
Home composting is environmentally friendly and produces a free soil improver.
The other alternative is to use the green waste facilities at household waste recycling centres across the County. Please ensure that you do not put plastic bags in with the green waste.

What happens to the green waste?
The garden waste collected in your green wheeled bin, or taken to your local household waste recycling centre (HWRC) is processed at a number of composting sites throughout and just outside the county, where it is turned into compost.
Most of the compost produced is used in agriculture, some is used for restoration of landfill sites (mainly for planting schemes) and a small proportion is sold and bagged through the Apex Composting Scheme.
Composting turns what many of us consider to be rubbish into an extremely useful resource. By composting green waste we are able to dramatically reduce the amount of waste that is sent to landfill, while producing a beneficial product that improves soil quality and enables farmers to be less reliant upon chemically produced fertilisers.

Can I put kitchen waste in the bin?

Can I put cardboard juice cartons in with the green waste?
No. Juice cartons have a plastic protective layer and therefore will not rot down. However you can recycle cartons at any of the household waste recycling centres (HWRC's) in Warwickshire.
I don't have a very large garden and don't think that I will fill the bin in two weeks. Should I still take part in the scheme?
Yes. Even if you only have a small amount of green waste in your bin it will still be collected for composting. However, if you only have a small amount you could either consider home composting or sharing a bin with a neighbour.
