New Cycle Routes in Warwickshire

Warwickshire County Council's Cycling Strategy within the Local Transport Plan 2006-11 focuses on developing cycle networks in the five main towns in the County (Leamington Spa, Warwick, Rugby, Nuneaton and Stratford-upon-Avon) and working with Sustrans to complete the National Cycle Network within Warwickshire. New cycle routes are also developed as part of the Safer Routes to School project.

Coventry Road, Warwick (Primrose Hill - A46 roundabout)
Heathcote - Warwick Technology Park - Warwick
Birmingham Road, Stratford-upon-Avon

Warwick
Barford - Warwick completed October 2008
Woodloes - south west Warwick / Aylesford School (Safer Routes to School scheme)
Warwick - Leamington town centre (extension of Emscote Road cycle route)

Leamington Spa
Bishops Tachbrook - Warwick Gates (Safer Routes to School scheme)
Shires Retail Park cycle / pedestrian access improvements
North Leamington School - town centre (Safer Routes to School scheme)

Stratford-upon-Avon
Alcester Road (extension of existing cycleway)

Nuneaton
Weddington Road (National Cycle Network route 52)
Attleborough - Bermuda Park new cycle route via George Eliot Hospital.

Rugby
Brownsover - Avon Valley School (Safer Routes to School scheme).
Long Lawford - Rugby

In December 2007, Warwickshire County Council was successful in winning Big Lottery funding through the Sustrans 'Connect2' project for the Kenilworth - Berkswell Greenway and Warwick University cycle scheme.
