Prefer to use sign language to access council services?

We offer a range of services to help meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing adults and children, as well as their families and carers.

  • Deaf people with additional disabilities and mental illnesses
Why us?
  • We are qualified and trained to work with Deaf people and those who have a hearing loss. The team consists of social workers, community care workers and administrative staff.
  • We have knowledge about Deaf issues.
  • We have sign-language skills. All staff working in this team are qualified at least to BSL Stage 2, with many qualified to BSL Stage 3.
  • We have links with the Deaf community.
Services to the Deaf


Our Services

Social Work
    • Social workers are available to help and advise on a wide range of personal and practical problems.
    • Registration as deaf and hard of hearing.
    • Monitor care of deaf adults in residential care.
    • We participate in specialist assessments for a wide range of settings such as Residential Care, P.A.C.E. interviews, Transitional reviews for deaf children at 14 plus.
Information and Advice
  • Information about Deafness, sign-language, Deaf clubs.
  • Advice about support for deaf children.
  • Information about regional and national resources for Deaf people.
Service Development
  • We ask deaf people their views and what they want to improve and develop services.
  • Liaise with other agencies.
  • Deaf children's Summer Playscheme.
Technical Equipment
  • Assess and advise on equipment deaf people might need in their daily life for example, flashing doorbells, textphones.
  • Provide specialist equipment to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing children and adults.

Where individuals are not eligible for a service funded by Warwickshire County Council, they will be offered advice and information about possible alternative sources of assistance.

The Supporting People programme offers vulnerable people the opportunity to improve their quality of life by enabling them to live more independent lives in the community.
