The Football Foundation

The Football Foundation is a funding partnership of the FA Premier League, the Football Association and the Government. Three-quarters of their total budget is devoted to the grass roots, improving pitches and changing facilities at schools and in the parks. The remainder helps new community and education projects, such as study support centres, community coaching schemes and social inclusion initiatives.

- 2,337 sets of goalposts replaced;
- 14,489 teams received new kit;
- 121 projects for disability groups;
- 116 projects for BME (Black Minority Ethnic) groups.

Facility Grant
The facilities scheme provides money to develop new, or improve facilities for community benefit. These include changing rooms or clubhouses, grass or artificial ptiches and multi-use games areas. Applicants should be able to provide match funding for their project, either from their own fundraising or through other grants. There is a fast track system for schemes up to and including £20,000. Additional funding is available for maintenance equipment, specialist ground staff, coaching schemes or project co-ordinators when linked to capital applications.
Goalpost Safety Grant
This scheme of funding provides grants for the replacement of unsafe goalposts. An individual grant cannot exceed 50% of the cost of a pair of goals, up to a maximum of £3,000. The Goalpost Safety Scheme aims to replace goals, which fail to meet the British Standards safety requirements. The goals targeted for replacement include pre-1996; metal cup hooks on posts and crossbars; wooden, freestanding, mini-soccer goals which are now incomplete, and corroded or rusted. Suitable suppliers must be used to purchase the goals.
Community Grants
Up to £250,000 for community and education projects lasting between one and five years,but those lasting at least three years are encouraged. Some of the priority areas for community and education funding are: reducing offending, inclusive communities through football, improving educational attainment and lifelong learning, tackling obesity, improving mental health and well-being
Community Small Grants Scheme
Up to £9,000 for projects costing up to £10,000 but the support will not exceed 90% of the total project cost. The scheme supports projects that aim to incrase participation by both players and volunteers by supporting the costs associated with providing new activity. Funding could be for training courses, hire of FA qualified coaches, hire of facilities or referees, publicity, first aid kits, recruitment events etc.
Junior Kit Scheme
