George Eliot to Mr Oscar Browning Esq, seemingly in reply to Mr Browning, explains that 'our son' [the son of G E Lewes] is recovering, and enquiring if it is too late for Mr Browning to send the Sicilian photographs. Written from The Priory, Regent's Park. Signed M E Lewes.

NB. The envelope accompanying this letter is addressed to Mrs Trollope, Villa Trollope, Florence. It is not known why these two items have been placed together.

Pencil marks at bottom of letter, left hand corner read: 'Eliot £12'; right hand corner, '5' and has presumably been added by the seller.

Yours always truly
