SACRE

Welcome

The Warwickshire Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) oversee Religious Education (RE) and collective worship in Warwickshire schools that do not have a defined religious character.

Warwickshire County Council published the 'Warwickshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education' in 2002 following detailed
Members of SACRE examining RE resources
consultation with SACRE. Schools that do not have a religious character are required to follow this syllabus. Please click here for the latest on the review of the agreed syllabus.

The membership of SACRE includes representatives from all the major faith and belief groups that exist in Warwickshire. The co-chairs of the group are Manjit Kaur and Shisham Singh Sahota.

The 1988 Education Act made SACRE a statutory group. It is the duty of SACRE to advise Warwickshire County Council on matters relating to collective worship and RE in community schools and foundation schools that do not have a religious character. It must also advise Warwickshire County Council on recommended teaching methods and resources for RE.
