Fire at Atherstone on Stour
Ian Reid's Funeral
Monday 3rd December marks the second funeral of the Warwickshire firefighters killed at Atherstone on Stour last month.
Ian Reid, 44, is being buried at St Gregory the Great Church, Stratford. He is survived by wife Julie, daughter Sophie, parents Bill and Cathy and brothers Shaun and Andrew.
His daughter has spoken of a ‘lovely man who would help her with her homework’. Widow Julie has remembered Ian’s desire to help the community which drove him to become a firefighter after working for the Inland Revenue for many years.
Earlier this year Ian became a whole-time firefighter and was posted to Rugby Fire Station. In his own words Ian was ‘made up’ by this achievement and he remained a retained firefighter at Stratford Fire Station.
Ian Reid
County Fire Officer, in tribute to Ian, said: “It can be said that no one was more passionate about being a Firefighter than Ian. The service we offered our community was all the better for his involvement.”
