 | Communications Strategy
A communications strategy is being developed to ensure that up-to-date information on climate change effects and impacts are fully disseminated.
The Partnership will also strengthen links with other agencies to improve understanding about the potential impacts of climate change. We have taken part in a national flooding exercise (Triton) which was organised by the Environment Agency and will inform the County Flood Plan, which we are developing. Climate change will also be included in future work of the Warwickshire Strategic Emergency Forum.
With this strategy we are encouraging representatives of the private, public, and voluntary sectors to take local action to tackle climate change through highlighting and sharing good practice. This will include building local links with the Carbon Reduction (CRed) Initiative based at the University of East Anglia.
In order to highlight the need for local action in Warwickshire for global impact we will support Practical Action’s climate justice campaign. It highlights the impact of climate change on the world’s poorest people, seeking support to help them adapt and urgent action to cut emissions.
Work to tackle climate change will continue to be promoted through various events and campaigns such as the ‘Switch it off’ campaign, which was first run in Autumn 2006, in partnership with Worcestershire County Council, Coventry City Council and Warwickshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre. The campaign has been running again in 2007, with new partners such as the Coventry Evening Telegraph, Chamber of Commerce, Heart of England Co-op and Severn Trent Ltd coming on board. |
