Grants and Funding
Coventry & Nuneaton Regeneration Zone (CNRZ)

What is a Regeneration Zone?

Advantage West Midlands (AWM) is the Regional Development Agency for the West Midlands. Around £300 million is invested each year into activity that will help transform the West Midlands' economy. To ensure that disadvantaged groups and communities benefit from wider economic activity there is a particular focus where deprivation is most acute - in the Regeneration Zones, market towns and selected coalfield areas. Six Regeneration Zones were identified to help target funding to areas of greatest need.

Where is the Coventry and Nuneaton Regeneration Zone?

The CNRZ covers much of North/Central Coventry and the A444 corridor northwards through Nuneaton and Bedworth. Around 202,000 people live in the area, 52,000 of these within Warwickshire. Download a map of the Zone (pdf 1.3 MB).

Who is making it happen?

The Partnership Board and Secretariat is based at Coventry Solihull Warwickshire Partnership (CSWP) to help local businesses and organisations - including community and voluntary organisations - to develop projects and deliver key priorities. Contact CSWP on 024 7670 7400 or email info@cswp.org.uk

What are the priorities?
  • Spreading market confidence northwards

Examples of funded projects

Pride in Camp Hill

£90 million is being invested over 6 years in the Camp Hill Estate, the most disadvantaged area of Warwickshire. A company limited by guarantee has been established to work with local residents and tackle the issues that really matter to them - crime, jobs, education and training, transport, housing, shops and other facilities and the general look and feel of the area.

An integrated programme of work is now well underway, including a phased housing and demolition programme, creation of new link roads and business premises and improved access to jobs and job hunting skills for local people.

Opportunities Centre in Nuneaton

The first Opportunities Centre, at Camp Hill Nuneaton continues to go from strength to strength. Lovell's builders, the developer on the adjacent Camp Hill estate, were so pleased with the project they created a special trainee award and donated a brand new toolkit to help the winner. The community based centre was formed by a partnership between Warwickshire County Council, North Warwickshire and Hinckley College and the Camp Hill Enterprise Resource Centre (CHEERS).

Eliot Park Innovation Centre (EPIC)

This £7 million project jointly funded by the European Regional Development Fund and AWM is one of the most environmentally friendly and innovative buildings in the region. The Centre can accommodate more than 40 small and growing businesses with the accent on innovation. EPIC is a truly 'green' building heated throughout by an energy efficient system and designed to reduce the overall energy consumption to less than half that of a conventional building. Tenants can access on-site support services provided by Coventry University Enterprises Ltd.

The Hub Resource Centre @ Bayton Road

The Hub is an outreach facility funded by AWM and European Objective 2 money providing support for businesses on Bayton Road Industrial Estate at Exhall. The centre also offers a range of training - particularly in ICT and environmental issues. A team of business advisors are based at the Hub and there are also meeting rooms for local businesses - providing facilities where they can meet and discuss issues of common concern.

Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods

A project funded by a range of partners including the European Union and AWM. A dedicated team are working to implement a programme of community led activities. They support projects initiated by the local community to achieve access to training and employment opportunities, establish new community enterprises and improve the environment.
