Zebby Clemons, Winner of the People and events category in the 2008 Warwickshire Photo Competition, being presented with her prize by Mervin from Camerama in Kenilworth

1st Place
This is an excellent photo and was judged to be the best image submitted due to a number of factors that the judges were looking for.

Judges liked that it was a well thought out photo, effectively portraying a fun day out in Warwickshire. With perfect focus and composition, the image gives a great sense of play with the boy in the foreground having fun dressing up as a medieval knight, and the out-of-focus but recognisable turrets of Warwick Castle rising up in the background.

It describes a typical day out for a child and what could be expected when visiting one of the county's well known landmarks. All in all a great photo promoting the county and encouraging visitors to the county.

Zebby wins the prize of a Fuji camera, case and memory card to the combined value of approx £160.00, from the category sponsor Camerama based in Kenilworth.

The Macmillan Charity Raft Race, Leamington Spa Silver Rocket

2nd Place
Theodora Philcox took this image of the Silver Rocket Raft, an entrant to the MacMillan Charity Raft on the River Leam in Leamington Spa. Judges commended on the strong texture and composition of the photo, plus the movement the image contains - the people vigorously striking the water with their paddles and the pattern of the water droplets thrown into the air. Very pleasing on the eye and depicting a story of a fun day out on the river getting wet!

Warwick Castle falconry

3rd Place
Jane Stevens of Warwick took this image titled Warwick Castle Falconry. Captured at the perfect dramatic moment, it is a spectacular shot of the bird in a dramatic pose.

Ao Dai in Spring

Commended
Michael Groves took this image of his fiance in a traditional Vietnamese dress Ao Dai while walking through fields near Stratford upon Avon. Containing perfect proportions and adhering to the rule of thirds, the image has excellent composition and great mood and colour. It works well with the subject looking away from the camera along with the movement within the photo from her hair.

Warwick Mop The American Circus ride at the 2006 Mop

Commended
Peter Sanders took this image of the American Circus Ride at the Warwick Mop in 2006. Full of colour, the image is well exposed and unblurred although being taken at night - often a tricky image to get right.

Canal boat going towards bottom of hatton locks

Commended
Rob Hird, caught the perfect shot as this canal boat approaches the bottom lock on the Hatton Locks Flight. Caught just as the canal boats is positioned at the correct position in the foreground, while the eye leads up the flight of locks to the top.

Girl at Hatton Country Park

Commended
Simon Moody took this fun picture at Hatton Country World. Full of movement and fun, judges very much liked the image for it's portayal of enjoying Hatton Country World.
