TELAC - The Education of Looked After Children
TELAC – The Education of Looked After Children

At any time, there are between three and four hundred children living in care of the Local Authority. In most cases, the authority with responsibility for their care is Warwickshire; a smaller number of young people are placed in Warwickshire but are looked after by other local authorities.

All these young people will need support to help them reach their full potential at school - the TELAC service in Warwickshire aims to ensure that all looked after children living in the county access support to help them do their best during their time at school.

The service was first established in 2003 and consists of a small team of qualified teachers with experience ranging across all phases of the education system.

Latest News:
Warwickshire is one of only 4 areas in the whole of England to be chosen as a pilot area for private tutoring for children in care.
The pilot aims to provide individual tuition to children in care to help them reach their full potential. Although tuition is available for all children in care in Warwickshire, including those who come into Warwickshire schools from other areas, some priorities have been identified.
