Waste Flow Model
Project Transform aims to provide a sustainable solution for managing residual waste (rubbish that cannot be economically re-used, recycled or composted) in the sub-region.
In order to develop the best solution for the sub-region, we must look at how much rubbish people are likely to create in Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire and how much of this will be re-used, recycled and composted. To assist with this process we have developed a waste flow model.
The waste flow model considers:
- How many tonnes of waste are recycled and composted.
- What types of things we are throwing out in our bins and sacks.
- How much waste we might be creating in the future as society changes, more houses are built in the area and as the economic conditions change.
- How much of our waste we are forecast to re-use, recycle or compost in the future.
The model uses 2008/09 figures on rubbish and recycling collected from all authorities in the sub-region and uses this as a basis for future forecasts.
The model is supported by an assumptions paper which provides details on the assumptions and the information used to develop the model. The latest figures from the waste flow model and the assumptions paper can be downloaded by clicking on the links below.
