Dear Sir,

On my return here from the Country I have your letter of 26th ult. and have great pleasure in acceding to your request to publish certain selections from the life of 'George Eliot' - of which you are good enough to furnish me with a list. Hoping that Mrs. Davenport-Cromer may soon be restored to her usual health and with my cordial good wishes for the success of her forthcoming release.

Yours very faithfully,
