Welcome to Warwickshire County Council

TravelWise

Cycling is a healthy, economical and pollution-free way to travel for short local journeys – to work, school, the shops, leisure centre, rail station and other destinations around town. It only takes about 10 minutes to cycle 2 miles, which is often faster than going by car!

Did you know…?
4 A moderate 30 minute ride to work can burn 200 calories, or 11kg of fat per year (BMA)
4 Studies show that regular cyclists enjoy fitness levels of people 10 years younger!

Warwickshire County Council's Cycling Strategy
Warwickshire County Council is working to improve conditions for cycling to encourage more people to cycle for local journeys. A Cycling Strategy has been developed as part of the Local Transport Plan (2006-2011) (see Annex 2).

A key focus of the Cycling Strategy is to continue to develop cycle route networks in the main county towns of Leamington Spa, Warwick, Rugby, Nuneaton and Stratford-upon-Avon. We also work with Sustrans to develop the National Cycle Network within Warwickshire.

The County Council is currently working on the design and construction of a number of new cycle routes throughout the County. You can have your say about the cycle schemes which are currently out to public consultation.
