Both take place in out of school hours (i.e. after school, weekends or holidays), in Warwickshire schools and registered partner organisations.
By completing different module activities the children can work towards gaining certificates and medals which are then presented to them at school assemblies or at an annual Graduation Ceremony in partnership with the University of Warwick, Institute of Education. Once registered some or all of your modules can be accredited to Children's University and Kids' College.
Aims:
- Promotes lifelong learning through 'a varied menu of activities' (one of the five core offers for Extended Services).
- Develops new skills by engaging children in fun, creative, quality learning activities linked with Every Child Matters.
- Improves self-esteem, motivation and confidence.
- Raises standards and recognised achievement.
- Involves community partners and educational establishments.
There are two ways of working for registered partners:
- Partners who run activities where children can build up their hours for just one activity.
- Partners who run short, one-off activities at their venues can accredit certain activities to Children's University of Kids' College. The partners will issue CU/KC record cards to children attending the activity to record the hours achieved with the different activities.
