Are you are a young carer?
A young carer is someone under the age of 18 and helps look after someone who has:
- a disability
- a serious illness
- mental ill health
- a dependency on alcohol or drugs
- anyone with HIV/Aids
The person may be:
- Parent
- Grandparent
- Brother
- Sister
- Other relative
- Close friend
Maybe you help by:
- doing domestic tasks, e.g. washing, shopping, ironing, cooking, cleaning
- giving medication
- supporting with mobility
- helping with personal care
- giving someone emotional support
- looking after brothers or sisters
- helping with financial support.
