A423 Oxford Road Roundabout Ryton on Dunsmore
(former Peugeot Car Plant)

This is a Major Project wholly funded by ProLogis Developments Limited based in Solihull, West Midlands and approved by the Local Planning Authority, Rugby Borough Council, on the 8th April 2008, subject to conditions. The scheme was approved by Cabinet for inclusion in to the Capital programme at its meeting on the 8th January 2009.
The roundabout scheme has been designed to serve access to a new 25.93 hectare business park comprising of storage and distribution Class B8 and B2 development on part of the former site of the Peugeot car assembly works. It is hoped the creation of the distribution centre will create around 400 new jobs.

The works involve the construction of a new three leg roundabout to serve the new industrial development known as site B. The greater part of the roundabout will be constructed to the east of the existing A423 Oxford Road, off line of the existing public highway. An existing access to Coney Grey Farm will be retained as a fourth leg to the roundabout. Extensive service diversions will be required as part of the scheme which will be carried out prior to or during the construction works. The roundabout in line with County Council policy to promote road safety will be have street lighting using efficient lanterns which save energy and reduce light pollution.
The scheme will be tendered to contractors from the County Council's Approved List of Select Contractors subject to completion of legal agreements with ProLogis.

Work of this type will require the use of part time and full time temporary traffic signals, and as the A423 Oxford Road forms part of the primary County road network and is a busy commuter route with important links to the trunk road network, delays and disruption are likely to be experienced by road users. To minimise this, lane closures and some elements of work may be carried out in the evening or at night. Access to local residential and business premises will be maintained at all times.

On other schemes, there have been instances of traders / contractors approaching local residents offering to tarmac drives. It is not the usual procedure for the Council or its approved contractors to sell surplus material to the members of the public, and anybody claiming to be from the Council and offering to tarmac their drives should be treated with extreme caution. If you are approached in this way and have any concerns please contact our Trading Standards Department on 08454 04 05 06.
