The role of the Resources Directorate is to ensure that the Council’s services are supported by appropriate arrangements for buildings, technology and finance.
We look after the Council’s property stock, maintaining it and managing new buildings, adaptations and extensions. We purchase or lease properties when we need them for new services and dispose of any buildings which we no longer need. We provide a full facilities management service for our own offices and provide catering and cleaning services more widely to schools, nurseries, libraries and social services centres.
We provide the ICT which supports many of the services of the Council. In particular we manage the network that links all of the Council’s sites electronically and develop and support the systems that Council staff use.
We ensure that high standards of probity and accountability are maintained for our finances. We consult on the Council’s budget every year and our accounts are independently audited every year.
How well we manage our resources is assessed by the Audit Commission. In our most recent assessment we scored 3 out of 4 for our “Use of Resources”.
There are five divisions within the directorate
