My dear Evans
I have seen in print the name of "The Revd. Frederick Rawlins Evans" and I sincerely congratulate Mrs. Evans & yourself upon the event that took place last Sunday, trusting that the old saying may prove true to the letter, "the better the day the better the Deed."
The choice of Curacy that he has made is I think a wise one, having always heard his Rector highly spoken of, and Frederick being brought in contact with so good a man as the Patron Lord Lyttelton cannot be otherwise than very beneficial to Frederick, and I heartily hope and trust that he will be an "Ornament to his profession."
The neighbourhood of Hagley is an exceedingly good one, he can always have plenty of Society and of the right sort for a Gentleman - You have given him a good start in life and doubtless he will be aware and take advantage of it.
Thomas Vincent told us he saw Mrs. Evans and Edith in Birmm. last Monday. We were gratified to know that the former was well enough to to undertake the journey to Worcester, and hope she may not feel any ill effect from the excitement.
What extraordinary changeable weather. I am hourly expecting a Telegram summoning me to London on the Birmingham Water Works Bill. Are you expecting to be there shortly?
With our united kind regards & best wishes to you and yours. Believe me
Very sincerely
