 | Enjoywarwickshire.com photo competition winners 2006 |
 | The Enjoywarwickshire.com Photo Competition 2006 was very popular and the judges had the difficult task of trying to decide on a clear winner from among the many excellent entries received.
However after much deliberation and with special thanks to the team of professional photographers at the Coventry & Warwickshire Evening Telegraph, 5 top photographs were finally agreed. Photos were judged on terms of content & subject, composition, clarity of the image, colours within the photo and also whether the image promotes the tourism aspects of the county.
The winner James Lawrie of Nuneaton submitted the winning image below of Kenilworth Castle which was taken on a Fuji S3 Pro in May 2006.
Kenilworth Castle Great Mere Footpath
Winner of the Enjoywarwickshire.com Photo Competition 2006
This is an excellent photo and was judged to be the best image submitted due to a number of factors that the judges were looking for. |
 |
 | | Firstly it is a well thought out photo, well framed with both an interesting foreground of the way-markers next to the stile, and the famous background of Kenilworth Castle. It depicts this well known image synonymous with the county in an unusual way, as this view of the castle across where the Great Mere used to be is not one that is usually seen in a photo.
It also promotes the network of footpaths that the county has and inspires the viewer to go for a walk amongst green and leafy Warwickshire. A leisure activity that can be enjoyed by many.
James received a free family ticket to an attraction of his choice within Warwickshire, which he chose as Warwick Castle. He also received a certificate and framed print of his winning photograph. |

Peter Sanders from Warwick took this dramatic silhouetted image of a Kite Surfer enjoying themselves on Burton Dassett Hills. The photo is framed perfectly and the judges agreed that it has been taken with skill and precision. The light blue colours of the sky also draw the viewer in. |

Paul Dibbens took this photograph on an early November morning at Weston Park near Long Compton in the very south of the county. Judges liked the way the inquisitive cattle lined up giving the photo excellent depth perspective. The trees in the background also give a backdrop of fantastic autumnal colours. An excellent opportunist photo. |

Tony Garner took this photo while walking around Pooley Country Park. The judges liked the mixture of action as the Canada Goose flies away from the oncoming canal boat, compared to the tranquil view of passengers dangling their legs over the side of the boat slowly chugging along. The Heritage Centre can also clearly be seen in the background amongst the foliage which is in full summer bloom. A great summery photo depicting a peaceful leisure activity. |

Keith Hayler took this photo in July 2005 of a couple setting off onto the River Avon from the jetty of St Nicholas Boathouse, in St Nicholas Park, Warwick. The judges liked the composition of the image as the boats are shaped in an arch that draws the eyes towards where the action is on the bottom left. It is a great image of a summer activity where people are relaxing and enjoying themselves on the river.
