Childcare Sufficiency Assessment

The Childcare Act 2006 gives local authorities a key role in shaping the childcare market. From April 2008 local authorities have a duty to secure sufficient childcare, so far as is reasonably practical, to meet the requirements of parents in their area to enable them to work or study. The first stage towards ensuring sufficient childcare provision across the county is the assessment of the current supply and demand in each area.

The documents on this page together form a comprehensive picture of childcare across Warwickshire, including the views of the primary users of childcare, namely children and their parents. These views, together with those of other interested parties such as the childcare providers themselves, have informed and helped to shape the recommendations for developing the childcare market throughout the county.
