Arts Participation for Employability - 'ArtsPEP'

Arts Participation for Employability or ArtsPEP was a sub-regional partnership led by Warwickshire Probation. It was one of 76 EQUAL Round 2 Development Partnerships in the UK and one of only seven in the West Midlands. ArtsPEP used participative arts as a methodology for developing a range of tailor-made training and support opportunities to help individuals with complex needs to access and remain in employment. Adult, Health and Community Services led a two-year project using arts based activity to promote the employability of people with learning disabilities.

ArtsPep was also part of a transnational partnership with EQUAL DPs from Hungary, Italy and the Netherlands. The four DPs worked together to use engagement with the arts to address inequalities faced by disadvantaged groups and to help individuals find suitable education, training and employment opportunities.

Grey Matters

WCC, along with Coventry City Council and Coventry Building Society, won over £50,000 of funding for a project designed to help organisations respond to one of the biggest challenges facing the economy – that of an ageing workforce. The Grey Matters Project looked at the retention and recruitment of older workers, including through the use of ICT.

Stress Awareness Training

WCC's Business Support Team won over £70,000 of funding to roll out its successful stress awareness training programme for SMEs to the rest of the West Midlands and to deliver targeted workshops in parts of northern Warwickshire. For more information, see the Business and Job web pages.

Both Grey Matters and the Stress Awareness Training are part of the Adjust the Balance Development Partnership led by Birmingham and Solihull LSC.
