Welcome to our home page. We are a group of people aged over 50 who are building a community in the heart of England that is the best place to live, work, play and retire in. Alcester SCAN (Senior Citizen's Action Network) meet bi-monthly at the heart of your community, we invite key speakers to come and talk to you about matters and issues that are important to you.
We value you! Come and have your say on the matters at the heart of your life.
1. In our locality the numbers of pensionable age residents is above the national average and rising. Working in partnership with voluntary groups and new council initiatives we will be seeking to address the challenge of isolation by building bridges enabling access to information and services.
2. Our surveys indicate the lack of a transport policy which addresses problems effecting older residents and young people trying to access further education and employment. We are in dialogue with the appropriate authorities and bus companies seeking actions that draws people together.
3. There is increasing fuel poverty across our community. We are working with ACT.COM, a local community project and the district council looking for practical responses. We will also campaign with housing associations and among the service providers for a balanced and direct approach.
