This is a Major Project wholly funded by Warwickshire County Council.
The scheme has been designed to address the serious injury accident history at the roundabout, ease congestion and provide crossing facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. The scheme has been approved by Cabinet for inclusion in to the Capital Programme at its meeting on the 24th April 2008, but will require further Committee approval.
The works involve alterations to the entries and exits of the roundabout with provision of traffic signals on four entry legs, A444 north and southbound and both of the B4113 Coventry Road. There will also be traffic signals installed on the circulatory carriageway of the central island. Four of the roundabout exits will have signals installed, these being the B4113 Coventry Road east and southbound, A444 north and southbound. The controlled facilities will also include crossing facilities for pedestrians and cyclists and assist traffic joining the interchange. This will enhance the existing cycleway and pedestrian facilities already provided at this busy interchange. The carriageway width of the central island will be strip widened over certain lengths as will the A444 north and southbound and B4113 Coventry Road southbound approach to the roundabout to provide additional running lanes. The approach roads, circulatory carriageway of the roundabout and all exit roads will be completely resurfaced on completion and new lane markings applied.

Tenders for the scheme have been received and are currently being assessed. It is hoped to commence work on site in January 2009 for a period of up to 21 weeks.
Work of this type will require the use of part time and full time temporary traffic signals, and as Griff Roundabout is on one of the main routes between Bedworth, Nuneaton and motorway network, delays and disruption are likely to be experienced by road users. To minimise this, lane closures and some elements of work will be carried out at night. Access to local businesses on Bermuda Business Park and Bermuda Industrial Estate will be maintained at all times.
On other schemes, there have been instances of traders / contractors approaching local residents offering to tarmac drives. It is not the usual procedure for the Council or its approved contractors to sell surplus material to the members of the public, and anybody claiming to be from the Council and offering to tarmac their drives should be treated with extreme caution. If you are approached in this way and have any concerns please contact our Trading Standards Department on 08454 04 05 06.
