 | Bridge over the Coventry Canal - The tranquil Coventry canal lazily drifts under a bridge by Hartshill Canal Yard in Nuneaton
Hartshill Canal Yard was built to maintain both the canal boats that transported the stone from the quarries, and the canal itself. This part of the Coventry Canal was built for the quarries to transport Hartshill stone in 1773. Boats on the canal carried many other cargoes such as coal from Bedworth, lime, sand, sugar, timber and manure.
