 | Kenilworth Castle Footpath - A track leads from the castle down through where the Great Mere used to be and out into the countryside.
This photo by Jim Lawrie of Nuneaton won the Enjoywarwickshire.com Photo Competition 2006!
This once Royalist stronghold was pulled down during the Civil war in 1649 by Oliver Cromwell and the Great Mere that protected it drained away. Today visitors can explore the ruins as well as the nearby countryside using the surrounding footpaths and Kenilworth Castle Millennium Trail. See our Towns of Warwickshire - Kenilworth pages for details.
For details of footpaths within Warwickshire and Coventry see our Walking and Cycling in Warwickshire pages.
