 | Lapworth village lies in the Birmingham green belt and on the junction of two canals, the Stratford Canal and the Grand Union Canal.
The village is strongly associated with the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, as the charismatic leader of the plotters, Robert Catesby, was born and lived here. His tomb is in Lapworth Church.
There are two National Trust properties close to Lapworth, the historic houses of Baddesley Clinton and Packwood House. Another fine house, Wroxall Abbey, country seat of Sir Christopher Wren also lies close, as well as the peaceful tranquility of Hay Wood, owned by the Foresty Commission.
Lapworth is a popular area for cuisine and has many 'gastro-pubs' including The Boot, The Navigation and the Fleur-de-Lys.
