 | Towns of Warwickshire - Gaydon |
 | Gaydon is a small village in the south of the county. During World War II a large RAF station was built near the village and after the war, this became home to a number of units of Britain's V bomber force of Vulcans, Victors and Valiants. The airfield was used for operational bombers until 1965 when it became home to training squadrons.

The RAF station closed in 1974 and the airfield was bought in 1978 by British Leyland and became a proving ground for its cars. This evolved into the Gaydon centre, the home of Land Rover design headquarters and the Heritage Motor Centre, a museum housing the world's finest collection of historic British cars. This museum is well worth seeing and has a number of free guided tours that appeal to all ages.
Aston Martin Limited, a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars, is also based in Gaydon. If lucky, you can spot the odd test car driving around the roads nearby the village.
A disused military base near Gaydon is also home to special vaults housing the highly flammable nitrate film elements of the British Film Institute's BFI National Archive, the world's largest archive of film and television.
The National Herb Centre is located nearby on the way towards Banbury. This has plenty for the family including a plant centre, gift shop, deli, nature trail and children's activity area.
