Museum on the Move

'Go with the flow - the life of rivers' is Warwickshire and Worcestershire's touring museum exhibtion service. It runs for a year fom April 2008 and covers areas of geology, natural and human history, archaeology and geography.

The exhibition explore and celebrates the life and times of local rivers, with reference to landscapes, wildlife, floods, human settlement, industry, transport and leisure. These themes are illustrated using museum objects, pictures, text, interactive displays and other materials with the help of our friendly onboard interpreters.

Activities include:
  • Food chains card game
  • River wildlife identification and classification using cards
  • River poems
  • Drawing river beasties
  • Day on the River - looking at old photographs and discussing how people used the river in the past.

Normal sessions last one hour per class, with classes split into three groups and divided between classroom activies and time on the bus.

The bus is available for booking to Schools, Community groups and organisations and any other interested parties.

Curriculum Links
The exhibition directly links to the National Curriculum KS2 Life Processes, Topic 4: Variation and Classification and Topic 5: Living Things in their environment.

It also links to KS1 English, Topics 1, 2 and 3 (Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing). KS2 English, Topics 1, 2 and 3 (Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing).

Geography: knowledge and understanding of environment, change and sustainable development.

The following Thinking Skills are also covered:
