My dear Griffiths
I am much obliged by your letter and the information it contains.
I see Mr. Horton advises just what I thought under the circumstances will be the best that by Will you should secure your property to your 'wife'. The investments you have made are I believe all safe ones but Trustees would not accept the Trust unless they were indemnified against any loss that might occur - and to place the money in what are called real securities such as Mortgages, consols would be against loss of Income.
Therefore I think it will be the best for the interest of both, leaving you free to change the Securities if you wish to do so at any time without inconvenience. Edith is such a good daughter that we shall feel parting with her very much indeed but it is the greatest comfort to know that she will have a good husband and one in whom we have every confidence.
Believe me my dear Griffiths
Affectionately and sincerely yrs
