| New Household Waste Recycling Centre and Waste Transfer Station | ||
| Warwickshire County Council is working with neighbouring Staffordshire County Council to develop a new HWRC and waste transfer station in North Warwickshire. The new facility will replace the existing site in Spon Lane, Grendon, while the waste transfer station will be a new and additional facility in the area. Planning consent was gained in July 2009 and Warwickshire County Council’s purchase of the property was completed at the end of September 2009. | ![]() | |
| Warwickshire and Staffordshire County Councils will jointly finance the development and operation of the facilities. The HWRC will be for the use of both North Warwickshire’s and Tamworth’s residents. The transfer station on the site will be used to transfer waste arising in North Warwickshire, Tamworth and parts of Nuneaton to the proposed W2R energy from waste plant in south Staffordshire.
