St. John's Museum Refurbishment Project |
December 2007- Decorating and Design
|
On Tuesday 4th December the St. John's Museum partially re-opened to the public, with access to the fully re-opened Regimental Museum. This involved cleaning the galleries of the dust made during the work to the stone floor and putting the metal screen back up in the hall.

As well as the work in the house, a lot of work has taken place behind the scenes. Our designer has been finalising designs for the reception, panels and other units in the hall and school gallery. The curatorial staff have been organising items from the collections, loans and getting mounts made for the new displays.
|
Work has also been taking place on audio descriptions for the visually impaired. Two scripts have been produced, one for the Victorian Schoolroom and one that will be used with a 'feely model' of the front of St. Johns.
The feely model, shown here, will be part of the new display about the house and it's history. Visitors, especially those who are visually impaired will be able to get a better sense of the features of the building through touch.
