My dear Mr. Evans,
I was startled and grieved to see in "The Times" the announcement of the death of Mrs. Evans. I am very sorry that I never knew her personally, but I deeply sympathize with you in your great and irreparable loss in which sympathy my wife most earnestly joins.
My father often used to say what a good mother she was to her children; they will miss her terribly for however old children may be the loss of a good and kind parent creates a blank never filled up in this world.
Our Heavenly Father alone can comfort you and in His fit time will call you to join her in heaven whom you loved so faithfully on earth.
I trust the members of your family are well - pray give them our most heartfelt condolences, altho' with exception of one of your sons we are strangers to them.
I remain
My dear Mr. Evans,
Yours very sincerely
