Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) enables people to develop the knowledge, values and skills to participate in decisions about the way we do things individually and collectively, both locally and globally, that will improve the quality of life now without damaging the planet for the future (1987 Bruntland Report).

“ESD is about values, with respect at the centre. This includes respect for others, for the environment, and for the resources we use. Education enables us to understand ourselves and others, as well as the natural environment, and in doing so helps create changes in behaviour.
Warwickshire County Council is addressing Education for Sustainable Development through the development and implementation of Warwickshire's Sustainable Schools Strategy - Educating for a Sustainable Future. This document sets out how the Council plans to support schools to become sustainable over the coming years. |
