Minerals Local Plan
The Minerals Local Plan has been prepared by Warwickshire County Council to identify those areas of the county where significant mineral resources occur, that is sand, gravel, hardrock and coal and where there would be least planning objection to possible workings.
The County Council has a statutory duty to prepare a Local Plan for minerals. The Minerals Local Plan was adopted in 1995. Although Local Plans have been replaced with Local Development Frameworks this Mineral Local Plan is saved until September 2007. It will be replaced by a Minerals & Waste Development Framework in accordance with the requirements of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004).
The County Council made a case to the Secretary of State to extend the period for which a number of policies from the saved Minerals Local Plan would be saved. Details of the policies (PDF - 34 KB) saved beyond the 28th September 2007 are provided here together with the direction (PDF - 101 KB) from the Secretary of State.
The Minerals Development Framework (MDF) Core Strategy is currently in preparation. Preparation for the Minerals Site Specific Allocations, Development Plan Document, will begin in December 2007.
A copy of the Minerals Local Plan (PDF - 5.4 MB),as adopted for Warwickshire can be downloaded. (NB - Refer to the schedule above which identifies those policies which have been "saved").
